A multi-award-winning comedy-drama created by and starring Sophie Willan, inspired by her own life.
The series follows Alma, a working-class aspiring actress from Bolton who's chasing a fabulous life with no money and no qualifications. Alongside her mum Lin, who's battling addiction and a mental health system that's failing her and her Spam loving grandma Joan, Alma reckons with a childhood spent partly in care while refusing to let any of it dim her dreams.
Drawn from Willan's own life, it handles the hardest subjects — the care system, addiction, grief — with unflinching honesty, and never at the expense of the laughs.
